The name Lioness Counseling Care was chosen to reflect both strength and nurturing, the two qualities we believe are essential in the healing process. The lioness is a remarkable and fascinating animal and symbolizes bravery, intuition, protective strength, and communal support. She is often called the “heartbeat of the family”…seen as both a fierce protector and a deeply connected member of her pride, representing the balance between power and care. This mirrors the journey many teenage girls and women experience in therapy - learning to connect with their strength while also honoring their vulnerability, emotions and healing journey. “Lioness” also reflects the idea of reclaiming identity and voice (Roar!). Many women spend years minimizing themselves, carrying emotional burdens, and feeling disconnected from their inner strength. Therapy becomes a sacred space to rediscover and awaken your inner lioness!

We believe every person deserves access to exceptional mental health care. Our decision to focus exclusively on teenage girls and women isn’t about excluding others - it’s about providing the highest level of specialized support to those we are uniquely equipped to serve. Girls and women often face distinct challenges throughout their lives, including navigating identity, relationships, self-worth, trauma, anxiety, depression, motherhood, infertility, pregnancy and postpartum challenges, care-giving, societal expectations, and gender-specific experiences. Our therapists are passionate experts in these areas.
-
Boys and men deserve high-quality mental health care too! We deeply value the important work being done by therapists who specialize in serving boys and men. If you’re looking for counseling for males, we’re happy to connect you with trusted local providers who are dedicated to serving them.

Lioness Counseling Care providers welcomes all people and cultures, including those that hold specific religious or spiritual beliefs. Therapists never impose their values or beliefs on clients, but Christian integration can be offered into your counseling experience if requested.

At Lioness Counseling Care, providing evidenced-based care means that your treatment is grounded in approaches that have been scientifically researched and shown to be effective. This may include therapeutic techniques supported by clinical research and tailored to your unique needs. This may incorporate approaches such as: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization Therapy (EMDR), trauma-informed care, mindfulness-based interventions, and other established best practices in mental health treatment.

Therapy is most effective when it’s a collaborative process. Your therapist will provide guidance, support and evidenced-based interventions, but meaningful change often happens through the work you do between sessions. You can get the most out of therapy by: attending sessions consistently, having an open mind, being honest even when it’s difficult, practicing your skills and strategies in everyday life, consistently reflecting on your thoughts, feelings and experiences, sharing feedback with your therapist about what is working, what isn’t and what you’re likely to focus on, and being patient with yourself.

Every person’s counseling care needs are unique, so there is no “one-size-fits-all” answer. The length of counseling depends on your goals, the concerns you’re working through, and the pace that feels right for you. Many clients begin attending sessions once a week to build momentum and establish a strong therapeutic foundation. As progress is made, sessions may transition to every other week or monthly for continued support and maintenance. Some people come to counseling for a few months to work through something specific, while others choose longer-term therapy to address deeper patterns, heal from trauma, or continue personal growth. Our therapists are highly collaborative and will ensure your treatment continues to meet your needs.
-
Therapists do not prescribe medication. Some clients use a combination of medication and therapy to best support their mood challenges. If you are interested in exploring medication options, we can refer you to medical professionals with expertise in mental health.

If you are uncomfortable having a therapy dog in sessions, Telehealth may be a better option for you. Our therapy dog is at the office most days.
